In a jam with digital preservation? Wondering how to move beyond the basic level of DPC RAM? Need advice on progressing from first steps to a more managed digital preservation capability? If so, this informal and chatty Members-only workshop is for you!

Our ‘RAM Jam’ session on the 30th November was aimed at those who would like advice and guidance on moving up to the ‘managed’ level (level 3) of DPC’s Rapid Assessment Model. We heard from a DPC Member panel who were able to share their own experiences of making progress with the different sections of DPC RAM and we would like to share some of those learnings with those who weren’t able to attend.

The Rapid Assessment Model is DPC’s maturity model for digital preservation. It is assumed that attendees have some knowledge of DPC RAM and may have already carried out their own self-assessment and gained an understanding of current strengths and weaknesses within their organization.

For a quick introduction to DPC RAM before the event please watch the short introductory video below.

Prior to this shorter ‘watch party’ event, attendees will have the opportunity to vote on which of the 11 sections of DPC RAM they would like us to focus on. During the session we will have time to cover the three or four most popular sections of RAM and hear a brief overview of the Managed level followed by a recorded Member case study. In these case studies, speakers share their own experiences of making progress with RAM, discussing what they did to move forward and sharing any tips, tricks, tools and resources that helped. There will be time allocated for further discussion of each section and an opportunity for all attendees to share their own experiences and ask questions.

To maintain the confidentiality of Member’s DPC RAM self-assessments this workshop will be conducted under Chatham House Rules.
