Information Services are seeking to recruit a Curation & Discovery Manager who will have strategic responsibility for:

  • Curation of digital materials created by the University of Kent;
  • Digital discovery of the library collections;
  • Access to all digital materials in the library collections;
  • Curation of all special collections and archives materials.

You will provide professional and technical leadership to optimise the discovery, curation and re-use of the University of Kent’s collections in support of engagement, teaching and research excellence. This role will help us to realise our ambition to be a centre of excellence in the distributed modern archives network we hope to establish.

As a Curation & Discovery Manager you will:

  • Work with the Assistant Director, Library Collections, Head of Collection Management and collection owners to set the strategic direction for curation and discovery and to ensure the effective delivery to realise the vision.
  • Provide effective leadership of curation and discovery activity, including preservation and discoverability, for the support of learning and teaching, research and cultural and artistic activities.
  • Ensure that all the University of Kent’s collections are digitally discoverable through the creation and maintenance of appropriate metadata.

 

To succeed in this role you will: 

  • Be educated to graduate level or equivalent/experience and have a Post graduate and/or professional qualification in archives, information, knowledge or records management or equivalent experience
  • Significant experience of staff management - an ability to motivate staff and to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience of curation and discovery services and a proven track record in the implementation of strategic plans curation and discovery

 

Information Services is comprised of four sections: Customer Support, Library Collections and IT Development together directly support almost all areas of University activity, and the Planning and Administration section supports the work of the department.
