The Digital Repository of Ireland, Wikimedia Ireland, and the Library of Trinity College Dublin are co-hosting a Digital Preservation Community Workshop on 30th November as part of TCD Library's marking of International Digital Preservation Day (IDPD2017).

The workshop, led by Rebecca O’Neill, Project Coordinator with Wikimedia Ireland, is an opportunity for digital preservation practitioners in Ireland to come together and share knowledge about institutional best practices and methods, through the medium of a collective creation and editing of Wikipedia pages on a variety of digital preservation subjects.

Taking the structure of a ‘Wikithon’, this event will facilitate conversations and knowledge sharing between both curators of digital collections in cultural institutions and those who are new to digital preservation but curious about finding out more.

This workshop is open to digital collection curators, practicioners, digital humanities researchers, information professionals and anyone interested in the field of digital preservation. In-person spaces are limited so booking is essential. It will incorporate a special exhibition about digital preservation being held in Trinity College Library on the same day. Online participation will also be faciliated; more details closer to the time.

Participants are also invited to attend an evening public lecture at 6:30pm, Digital Cultural Heritage and the Limits of Preservation, part of the Library's IDPD2017 programme.
