The Library of Trinity College Dublin, the University of Dublin invites you to a public lecture in the evening. We are very excited to welcome expert speakers from nearby and overseas, who will explore and probe the meaning of digital preservation from two angles. Amber Cushing (UCD) will give an overview of the challenges facing the owners and curators of digital cultural materials, with particular reference to her recent research on the digital curatorial landscape in Ireland. Anna Gerber and Britt Iverson (Visual Editions) will then present some of their projects at the cutting edge of digital narration, resulting in forms of publishing that might resist preservation. Together, the speakers and audience are invited to play with the question: What are the limits to long-term preservation in the digital world?

This evening lecture will be the final of three events in the Library to mark the International Digital Preservation Day. There is also a "Digital Preservation Community Workshop," from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., organised together with the Digital Repository of Ireland (DRI) and Wikimedia Community Ireland. It is taking place in the South Training Room of the Berkeley Library of Trinity College Dublin. More information can be found on the workshop registration page. In parallel, and running all day, there will be a pop-up Museum of Technology in the Berkeley Library, featuring legacy hardware from University collections, along with a series of exciting demonstrations.
