Full-Time

National Museums Scotland is one of the leading museum groups in Europe. With one of the largest and most diverse collections in the world, we are responsible for the acquisition, preservation and display of a substantial part of Scotland’s cultural, historic and national heritage.

Millions of local and international visitors enjoy our four museums each year, and we also introduce our collections to a much wider audience than can physically visit our museums through, touring exhibitions, loans, community engagement, digital programmes and research.

Over the last decade, we have invested over £120 million in our sites and have more than doubled our visitor numbers, with over 3 million people now visiting our four museums. Alongside this, we have continued to transform how we communicate and engage with our audiences. 2019 has seen the completion of our Masterplan for the National Museum of Scotland with the opening of three new galleries dedicated to Ancient Egypt, East Asia and the Art of Ceramics.

We are looking for enthusiastic, passionate, honest, service-driven individuals to join our team.

Responsibilities:

As Digital Content Manager with National Museums Scotland you will:

  • Lead the delivery of a programme of digital content, commissioned and developed in order to reach and engage multiple audiences across National Museums Scotland’s digital media channels, increasing engagement with the National Collection, museum sites, public programmes, campaigns, and research

  • Implement a Content Strategy that meets key milestones and objectives in support of audience needs and organisational goals, owning and overseeing the delivery of a content roadmap and calendar through which a diverse portfolio of digital content is delivered

  • Use research, insights, and audience-focussed commissioning practices to identify and devise workstreams, making evidence-based decisions in order to successfully deliver multi-format content outputs to wide audiences engaging across multiple platforms

  • Manage a team of Content Producers and seek opportunities to establish content partnerships with a range of external collaborators, in order to drive forward the production of impactful, accessible, purposefully designed digital content for nms.ac.uk and the museum’s social media channels

  • Engage with the multi-disciplinary work of colleagues from across all areas of National Museums Scotland as digital content is commissioned, developed, produced, and delivered
