The HSBC Archives team spans London, Hong Kong, Paris and New York, and is charged with the operation and maintenance of our award winning Global Digital Archive system (GDA). The critical role of digital preservation to business is increasingly being recognised, and the digital archives team are at the forefront of this.

HSBC is currently seeking an ambitious individual to join the team for a 12 month period, working together with colleagues to help capture, manage and make accessible digital and digitised content within the GDA system.

Key Responsibilities of this role will include:
  • Daily monitoring of the specialist HSBC Global Digital Archive system (GDA), assisting colleagues with digital preservation troubleshooting issues.
  • Supporting the development of policies and procedures for improved preservation and cataloguing of digital content
  • Providing digital preservation training sessions for the Global Archives team
  • Supporting strategic collection development on a global basis, which involves the selection, transfer and custody of digital records, once retention periods have passed

To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:

  • You will likely have a Postgraduate degree in Archives or Records Management, or a related information management discipline, or equivalent practical experience
  • Familiarity with CALM and Preservica software, or similar EDRM, DAM or other digital preservation systems, is a distinct advantage
  • An understanding of how an effective digital archives programme is grounded in the solid governance of file formats, metadata management, the interaction of multiple IT operating environments as well as an appreciation of how the core archival principles from the physical world transfer over to the digital
  • Experience of managing or implementing effective digital archives, digitisation, EDRM or DAM programmes
  • Interpersonal, strategic planning, and project management skills
  • Knowledge of digital preservation, the secure management of digital assets and professional best practice
  • Ability to interact with IT colleagues and vendors
