Fixed Term

The University of Warwick wishes to appoint a postdoctoral research fellow to develop application of Integrating Decision Support System for a digital archive application.

You will undertake applied research in the area of probabilistic decision support for digital archive application. Professor Jim Smith and Dr Martine Barons developed Coherent Frameworks for Statistical Inference serving Integrating Decision Support Systems. You will work with them and with Professor Martyn Plummer to develop an application of this new theoretical approach for use as decision support within the digital archive industry.

In 2009 there were 122 national, 654 local, 328 university, 1,224 special and 61 business archives. All these are set to benefit from development of risk assessment, mitigation strategies and staff development paradigms for the improved preservation of digital archives. Archives of material ‘born digital’ are increasing and this increase is set to accelerate in future years. Thus this work, funded by the EPSRC Impact Acceleration Award, has great potential for impact in the UK and worldwide.

Informal enquiries can be address to Dr Martine Barons (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) and Professor Jim Smith (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.).

Applicants should ask their referees to send letters of recommendation in advance of the closing date to Lynn McLean, Senior Finance Assistant (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.).
