Advocacy continues to be the metaphorical rocket fuel that propels web archiving programmes. But doing advocacy well is tricky. Communicating the benefits of web archiving to diverse audiences requires careful consideration, planning, and delivery. In this era of mass information and complicated digital ecosystems, advocacy for what we do has never been so important.
Following on from our 2022 discussion on promoting web archives to internal staff, DPC WAPWG is delighted to be once again collaborating with the International Internet Preservation Consortium for a forthcoming webinar on external advocacy.
At the event we will hear from organizations that have developed strategies to successfully engage with external audiences, followed by a roundtable discussion and Q&A. This event will be useful for both those new to web archiving - perhaps considering a business case for this function at their own institution - and seasoned practitioners in search of new inspiration for reaching users in cyberspace.
1500 - Welcome, Paul Wheatley, DPC
1510 - External Advocacy for Web Archives - Ricardo Basilio, Arquivo.pt
