Audio Visual Working Group

29 Jul 2024 at 3:00pm - 29 Jul 2024 at 4:00pm UTC
Online
Members Only

This online members-only event will be held on the 29th July from 31st of May from 15:00-16:00 UTC (click for local time).

The Audiovisual Working Group (AVWG) brings together DPC Members in order to discuss issues and challenges relating to the preservation of digital content that is either audio, video, or both. The AVWG provides an opportunity to share experiences, discuss good practice, and identify and address common problems. It aims to complement, not duplicate, the activities of any pre-existing groups, meetings, or activities that address the long-term preservation of AV content. Priority is given to discussions of real-world experiences and examples of proven good practice.

In this session, we’ll hear from Jon Dunn and Brian Wheeler (Indiana University Libraries), who will describe their work on the Media Digitization & Preservation Initiative (MDPI) to digitize and store 350,000 items, and their subsequent work on AV digital preservation workflows.

This will also be an opportunity to pose any AV preservation questions that you have, and draw upon the wider experiences of the other people at the meeting.

In order to encourage open discussion and debate, please note that this session will not be recorded.

Please note: This is the last AV WG session that we have organized for 2023-24. So if you’d like to present at a future meeting of the group, or there’s a topic which you’d like the group to discuss, please get in touch with Michael Popham: michael.popham@dpconline.org
