Please join us in the Australasia and Asia-Pacific time zone for this #DPClinic watch party suitable for anyone interested in preserving digital art, whether they have existing knowledge and experience or are new to the subject.

We will show a recording of the DPC event held on 24 October 2024 to mark the publication of the DPC’s new Technology Watch Guidance Note by Patricia Falcão on the topic of preserving digital art. This will be followed by a live discussion with the local digital preservation community.

The DPC Guidance Note provides an introduction to preserving digital art, describing the different components that come together to make a piece of digital art, the role of the artist and their representatives, the legal agreements that may be necessary and introduces some of the preservation strategies that can be employed. It is primarily aimed at digital preservation practitioners who have not previously collected or worked with this type of content and provides an introduction to the topic, as well as a signpost to other resources.

Panelists:

Savannah Campbell, Time-Based Media Conservator, Whitney Museum of American Art

Dragan Espenschied, Preservation Director, Rhizome

Patricia Falcão, Time-based Media Conservation, Tate

Isabel Meyer, Director, Digital Platforms, Smithsonian Institution

Followed by a live presentation by Joanna Fleming, Digital Preservation Manager, Art Gallery of NSW and an opportunity for discussion and Q&A with the local audience.

DPC Inclusion & Diversity Policy

The DPC Community is guided by the values set out in our Strategic Plan and aims to be respectful, welcoming, inclusive and transparent - the same applies to #DPConnect sessions. We encourage diversity in all its forms and are committed to being accessible to everyone who wishes to engage with the topic of digital preservation, whilst remaining technology and vendor neutral. We ask all those who are part of this community and/or attending a #DPConnect session to be positive, accepting, and sensitive to the needs and feelings of others in alignment with our DPC Inclusion & Diversity Policy.

Zoom may now require you to have a personal account in order to join a meeting. Therefore please could you register for an account in advance of #DPConnect, if you do not have one already. The sign up link is here: https://zoom.us/signup
