This online members-only event will be held on the 28th of March at 14:00-15:00 UTC, and is intended to suit Members based in the Europe and the US.

The Audiovisual Special Interest Group (AVSIG) brings together any interested staff from DPC Member organizations to discuss issues and challenges relating to the preservation of digital content that is either audio, video, or both. The AVSIG provides an opportunity to share experiences, discuss good practice, and identify and address common problems. It aims to complement, not duplicate, the activities of any pre-existing groups, meetings, or activities that address the long-term preservation of AV content. Priority is given to discussions of real-world experiences and examples of proven good practice.

Our next meeting will begin with a presentation from Adrienne Warburton of the RTÉ Archives. Their website states, “RTÉ Archives is home to Ireland’s largest collection of audiovisual material. Combining hundreds of thousands of hours of moving image and sound recordings together with significant collections of photographs, manuscripts and administrative documents”. Adrienne will describe their mass digitization of audio and audiovisual assets, and their work in the context of digital preservation.

Where possible, any presentations given at this meeting will be recorded and subsequently made available to Members via this event page.

If you have any questions or suggested topics for future meetings, please email: michael.popham@dpconline.org. (see below for the proposed date and time zone of AVSIG’s next meeting).
