AI for Digital Preservation

We hear Artificial Intelligence (AI) being mentioned frequently in the news, but this typically seems quite removed from our day-to-day work with digital archives. Whilst we are sure that AI and Machine Learning must be able to help us manage and preserve large quantities of digital content, it can be hard to find opportunities to consider how it might help and to know where to start. 

For those digital preservation practitioners who are curious about the application of Artificial Intelligence and interested in how we as a profession might engage with it going forward, this event offers an accessible introduction and a flavour of some of the ongoing work in this area. We will hear from a range of speakers about how they have used AI and related techniques to further digital preservation and their work with archives.

This is the first of two DPC events on the topic of AI and digital preservation this month. A follow-up event will be held in Canberra on 22 March at a time to suit participants in the Australasia and Asia Pacific time zone.
