In this #DPClinic Aus we will present a discussion on Digital Asset Registers (DAR). These are high-level resources that capture information about digital content held by an organization. As such, developing a DAR is an important step in gaining intellectual control of that content. A DAR can be a useful tool for:

  • Understanding the digital content held by an organization.

  • Managing the content over time.

  • Making preservation decisions.

  • Providing information to help with advocacy for digital preservation activities.

This session will introduce new guidance on creating DARs that has been commissioned by The National Archives (UK) and developed by the Digital Preservation Coalition. We will begin with a presentation that will describe the development of the guidance, the advice contained, and the additional supporting resources and this will be followed by ample time for questions and discussion.  Attendees will also be encouraged to share their own experiences of developing a DAR for their organization.

Recordings

All presentations will be recorded and made available to DPC Members and Supporters via this web page after the event (login to DPC website required).

Please note - registration for the event is not required in order to access the recordings after the event.

DPC Inclusion & Diversity Policy

The DPC Community is guided by the values set out in our Strategic Plan and aims to be respectful, welcoming, inclusive and transparent - the same applies to #DPConnect sessions. We encourage diversity in all its forms and are committed to being accessible to everyone who wishes to engage with the topic of digital preservation, whilst remaining technology and vendor neutral. We ask all those who are part of this community and/or attending a #DPConnect session to be positive, accepting, and sensitive to the needs and feelings of others in alignment with our DPC Inclusion & Diversity Policy.

Zoom may now require you to have a personal account in order to join a meeting. Therefore please could you register for an account in advance of #DPConnect, if you do not have one already. The sign up link is here: https://zoom.us/signup
