University College Dublin (UCD) is seeking to fill a Professor/Full Professor role in Information and Communication Studies to offer leadership to the School in its goal to grow its research, teaching, and international engagement. This is a permanent full-time role in the UCD School of Information and Communication Studies.
The School of Information and Communication Studies (ICS) is a member of the iSchool consortium and the only iSchool in Ireland. It is the only academic institution in Ireland to provide undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes leading to research and professionally accredited qualifications in Information and Library Studies.
The School investigates how information is created, organised, searched, and shared within and across communities, organisations and societies. Information plays a key role in business, government, society and life. Knowing how to create, manage, share, find and use digital information is more relevant than ever before. The School is the only academic institution in Ireland to provide undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Information and Library Studies, Information Systems and Digital Curation.
Applicants with appropriate expertise in any area of the broad field of Information and Communication Studies will be considered. Current areas of research in the School include human-computer interaction, digital curation, cultural heritage informatics, data/information ethics, information architecture, foundations of information studies, information behaviour, data practices, digital and data journalism, digital media studies, and information literacy. The successful candidate will be expected to assume the responsibilities of head of school on appointment for a period of 3-5 years.

Salary Scales:
95 Professor (2010) Salary Scale: €83,800 to €111,159 per annum. (Or)
95 Full Professor C (2010) Salary Scale: €114,740 to €140,961 per annum.
Appointment will be made on the appropriate Scale, and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines.
