Happy New Year DPC Members! We're looking forward to another packed 12 months of learning and sharing digital preservation, so here's how to have your say and connect with other members this year:

On the DPC Blog

We continue to receive great feedback about the DPC blog, so I hope you are all able to contribute to and to enjoy it. With more than 155 members now, it serves as a rich mine of interesting and informative updates.

If you haven’t managed it yet, we wholeheartedly encourage you to consider writing a post for the DPC blog!

Here are a few reasons why:

  • We have so many new members from all around the world - use the blog to say hello and introduce your work (if you are new to the DPC) or reach out and make connections

  • We are not travelling to events as much as we used to – events are where we chat over coffee about the work we are doing and the challenges we have. Without that face-to-face interaction, it is not so easy to discover what everyone is up to. Use the blog as a way to share and show off your achievements (you may help others this way), or ask for help if you have encountered a challenge (they may help you!). Every post is interesting, and I guarantee that others will think so too, even if you don’t!

  • Reach out to the whole community – the DPC blog is not just read by other members, but by the whole community. Use it to showcase work, launch systems or services, make connections, ask for solutions.

  • It can be a short and informal - the blog is not intended to be an onerous chore, but rather an interesting and lively way to stay in touch with your DPC colleagues and the broader community!

You can decide when you would like to publish your blog post and while we encourage you to share your experiences on any digital preservation topic which interests you... there are some specific topics we are actively seeking blog posts on, which might also inspire you! To see the list of topics login to the DPC website and visit: https://www.dpconline.org/blog/blog-topics

If you would like to write a blog post for us, please get in touch to let us know what you would like to write about and when you think you would like your post to be published, and we will add you to our schedule 😊

#DPClinics

Are you working on a specific digital preservation topic? Do you have work to share or a question to raise with the digital preservation community? Is there a discussion you’d like to have with your community colleagues?

On the last Friday of each month we hold #DPClinic sessions which are open to the whole digital preservation community to attend. Each month has a different digital preservation topic as its theme, and we invite lively discussion and debate around this theme. Participants are invited to bring questions, queries and challenges on the relevant topic, as well as stories of what has worked well for them; or alternatively just listen in to the discussion.

We are always interested in hearing suggestions for topics for sessions throughout the year, but we are especially looking for a theme for our February #DPClinic, at 1400 UTC on Friday 23rd February, so if you have something you would like to share or discuss please contact us by Monday 22nd January!
