About the AMaGA Conference 2023

Each year, the Australian Museums and Galleries Association (AMaGA) holds a National Conference at a different Capital City or regional location across Australia. The National Conference offers an important networking opportunity for museum and gallery workers, and this year’s conference, AMaGA 2023: Discomfort. Brave conversations and new connections in a changing environment (#AMaGA2023), will explore how areas of discomfort are being identified, acknowledged and addressed by museums and galleries in local and global contexts.

AMaGA 2023 will be held 16-19 May across Murrook Cultural Centre, Newcastle City Hall and Civic Theatre. The program will include invited speakers, workshops and lightning talks to educate, engage and inspire discussion throughout the conference. There will also be plenty of opportunities to meet new people and reconnect with friends and colleagues, starting off with the Welcome Reception, this year to incorporate the AMaGA National Awards. A First Timers Breakfast and First Nations Breakfast have been introduced to the program this year and the Conference Festival Dinner will be the conference’s social grand finale. An outline of the program is available here.

Further details can be found by visiting the conference website at https://conlog.eventsair.com/amaga-2023.
