The first-ever review of the DPC’s Digital Preservation Competency Framework will shortly be underway! To help ensure the Framework and its resources continue to reflect good practice, we invite those in the community who have used the resource to provide feedback.
Launched in 2022, the Digital Preservation Competency Framework looks to define the broad range of skills required within an organization to support digital preservation work. The Framework is also accompanied by a set of example role descriptions for common digital preservation role types, and a Competency Audit Toolkit (DPC CAT) to facilitate skills development planning, analysis of role descriptions, and assessment of organizational skills.
The Digital Preservation Coalition has made a commitment to the continuous improvement of its core resources, so they will reflect evolving good practice in the field. With three years passed since the launch of the Competency Framework and its accompanying resources, a review will now be undertaken to ensure they remain fit for purpose.
To guarantee the resources continue to support the needs of the digital preservation community, we welcome and encourage feedback from anyone who has used the Framework and/or the accompanying resources. A feedback form is now available for anyone who would like to share their thoughts and suggestions. The form will be open until Friday 28th February.
The full review is planned for March, based on the feedback collected through the form and other comments gathered through discussions and events since the initial publication. It is hoped that a revised Second Edition of the DP Competency Framework will be released in late March/early April 2025.
