About the department
The abrdn archive collects, preserves and promotes the history of abrdn, all its previous entities and all its subsidiaries. The team are responsible for preserving a history which spans 197 years. Physical and digital material is acquired, catalogued, preserved and made available to a range of internal and external stakeholders in a range of ways. Outreach and Advocacy across the company is an important part of our role and the need to highlight the work we do to the wider business is integral to everything we do.
About the role
Working as our Collections Development Archivist, you will work with the company archivist on all aspects of collections development, including policy and procedure review, accessioning and record acquisition. You will be responsible for ensuring that all records of historical value are transferred to the archive for processing.
Role Responsibilities
Appraisal and Accessioning

Work with the company archivist to review and adapt current collections development processes and practice

Review and adapt appraisal and accessions policy and procedure in order to streamline current workflows and enable the archive to collect records effectively on a global scale

Process the accessions backlog to ensure all records are correctly listed and ready for further processing.Stakeholder Communications and Advocacy

Liaise with the company records management team to put in place a retention schedule based accessions workflow.

Build and closely manage relationships with key Business stakeholders within a company context to aid in record collecting
Collections Development

Understand the role of the archive within the business and help work on solutions to current challenges in the area of collections development.
