Last week Jisc published a Contract Opportunity for a Digital Preservation Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS). This DPS will allow Jisc members and other organisations to purchase Digital Preservation Systems using a competitive, compliant, and fast process.
What is a DPS? In a nutshell, Jisc prequalifies Vendors using a core set of Digital Preservation System requirements. Buyers of DP systems can then run mini competitions (adding additional requirements if needs be) through the DPS to procure their Preservation System. This whole competition and award process can (potentially) be completed in a matter of weeks!
To be accepted on to the service Suppliers will need to meet the requirements set out in the published Request to Participate (RTP) document. The initial RTP phase should be complete by early March, at which point mini-competitions can start.
