Do you have experience in photography and an interest in digitisation and archives? Are you able to work under pressure and to deadlines, whilst keeping to performance standards? Are you customer-focused and able to deliver outstanding service?

Special Collections & Galleries at the University of Leeds holds world-class collections encompassing archives, manuscripts, rare books, and the University’s institutional archive and art collection. Access is delivered through our research centre in the Brotherton Library, our two public galleries, and increasingly through rich online content. Resource discovery and the management of collections data are major challenges for the service and are a focus of efforts to effectively showcase our distinctive offer to the University and wider research community.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with practical experience in photography and skills in processing images in digital workflows to join our digitisation studio team. The Digital Content Team in Special Collections delivers a range of digitisation services to academics, visitors to our Research Centre and Library colleagues, digitising material for delivery online, and on-demand digitisation for paying customers.

As a Digitisation Technician, you will understand the need to meet deadlines and peaks in workflows, while maintaining the high quality standards required for digital surrogates. The studio team provide a wide range of services which means you will need to be flexible and responsive, reacting and adapting positively to new initiatives. You will also need to work with a wide variety of stakeholders and staff across the university to deliver an excellent service.
