An exciting opportunity has come up for a Digital Archivist based at the RMIT University Archives within the Library. The role and associated developing digital preservation activities are ground-breaking for the University Library and transformative, delivering the foundations for the management of digital collections for the future.
About the Role
The Digital Archivist is based within the RMIT University Archives team and collaborated and liaises with Library colleagues and externally.
RMIT University Archives sits within the University Library, School of Education and forms part of the University’s rich fabric of information management, culture and heritage. We collect, store and preserve records that are precious to the RMIT and broader community.
The Digital Archivist will:
Develop digital preservation practices and workflows
Prepare digital materials for ingest to a preservation workflow.
Provide format guidance and support
Manage format tools and documentation
What You Will Need:
The successful candidate will have a wide-ranging technical skillset that includes:

Knowledge and/or experience in understanding the risks and vulnerabilities of data and digital technologies.

Conceptual understanding and knowledge of key challenges of digital preservation

Strong knowledge of digital formats and metadata.

Willingness to engage with a range of stakeholders and work as part of a team to achieve common goals.
