The Digital Content Services Librarian will report to the Director of Digital Special Collections and Access and will work within the Digital Special Collections and Access (DSCA) unit, part of the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library (BRBL). DSCA provides leadership, services and strategic direction that enables access to digitized and born digital special collections content across Yale Library.

The Digital Content Services Librarian will lead services that build new digital collections for Yale Library, for inclusion in the Library’s Digital Collections System (DCS) or AV Access System (Aviary). 

The Digital Content Services Librarian will: Manage digitization projects from conception to delivery. Coordinate with multiple stakeholders, experts, and service providers on all phases, including idea generation, feasibility assessments and reviews, proposal generation, prioritization of projects, project planning, budgeting, preservation and conservation review, imaging or reformatting, metadata creation, ingest, testing, and promotion. Partner with Preservation Digital Strategies in determining appropriate digitization center or solution for digital projects. Supervise staff in the Beinecke Digital Services Unit, which includes metadata assistants and photographers. Supports teaching and learning with digital collections. Collaborates with Preservation Digital Strategies to help coordinate digitization services across YUL for both patron and project-based digitization workflows. Assists with increasing digitization capacity to make more special collections content available online. Leads efforts around digital storytelling, collaborating with Community Engagement and Communications & Marketing. Partners with Data Management, Analysis and Content team, within Technical Services, to manage ongoing enhancement, repair, remediation or reassociation work for both metadata and content in DCS. Assist units from across Yale Special Collections with planning, scoping and building new collections as well as enhancing existing collections. Champions reuse of content in DCS, and functionality to facilitate such reuse. Coordinates with AV Access Services Librarian to provide access to AV digital projects. Aid in the ongoing development and maintenance of DSCA service model. Acts as key liaison between DSCA and Preservation Digital Strategies; Collections, Research and Education and Data Management, Analysis and Content.
