About the role:

This is an exciting opportunity at the British Museum to contribute to the digital vision and implementation of the Endangered Material Knowledge Programme, which focuses on the digital preservation of critically threatened material knowledge globally. This role will look to carry out a wide-ranging audit of digital platforms and functionality, with a focus on improving workflow and architecture and expanding public usability and accessibility. If you have a strong set of digital skills and experience, and a sensitivity to the needs and priorities of cultural knowledge preservation and curation, we would love to hear from you.

Key areas of responsibility will include:

  • To review and refine digital audit workflows and contribute to the audit of assets submitted for publication to minimize errors and ensure data quality.

  • To refine and optimize repository publication workflows ensuring efficient team procedures, strengthening risk management practices, and reducing turnaround times.

  • To review the repository layout, for better retrieval of data and to improve public accessibility, including the development of user-friendly public-facing platforms for repository dissemination to external stakeholders (e.g. website searching platform via repository API).

  • To review and refresh website architecture and design to expand scope of website as portal for diverse EMKP users and community.
