UCC wishes to appoint an experienced administrator to the role of Head of Digital Systems. Reporting to the Director of Library Services, the Head of Digital Systems - Library will lead a team of library and technology specialists in developing UCC Library’s digital library infrastructure, metadata services, discovery services, and digital asset management capacity. The post-holder will oversee and further develop the following functions: library systems and support services; electronic resources; cataloguing & metadata. The position will define and articulate the vision, strategic directions, and priorities for library systems and digital services in a dynamic environment that values creativity, teamwork, and innovation.

 

The role holder will work with all Library departments and service owners to ensure optimal use of technological solutions, to streamline internal processes, and to enhance the user experience of Library patrons. Current core business systems include the Library Management System (currently Sierra), Discovery System (currently Summon), Institutional Repository System (currently DSpace), Website CMS (currently LibApps), Archives Management System (Axiell CALM), Authentication & Authorization systems (Ezproxy, Azure AD, Shibboleth). The library also develops and maintains several process automation apps using Office 365 and Power Automate. The successful candidate will define and drive the technical roadmaps for these platforms while ensuring uninterrupted delivery of excellent service.

 

The role holder will be a collaborative, experienced, passionate, forward- thinking leader responsible for developing and managing the Library’s Digital Systems team. The role holder will further develop the portfolio in close collaboration with library colleagues, the Director of Library Services, the Information Services Directorate, and partners across campus.

 

The role holder will be an active member of the Library Leadership Team and will provide strategic and operational input into the leadership, management, and development of the library and to the embedded culture of excellence in the provision of resources, facilities, and services. The successful candidate will be highly service-oriented and promote a culture of flexibility and continuous improvement. The post holder will be a leader in increasing the library's capacity to successfully manage technically and organizationally complex projects.
