This post will support the India Office Records team by ensuring that legacy digitised content created by the library and commercial partners is ingested into the Libsafe system for long term preservation and eventual online access. It provides the opportunity to use your digital skills to support the strategic priorities of the India Office Records and Private Papers, the primary source for the history of the British administration in India.
Working closely with India Office Records curators and with colleagues in Heritage Made Digital, you will be responsible for assessing digitised content, ensuring it meets library and departmental standards and requirements for ingest, as well as creating necessary metadata and ensuring that copyright and data sensitivity assessments are carried out. You will also have the opportunity to catalogue India Office Records material, for which full training will be provided.
The post holder will have experience of working with digital images and large-scale digital projects, and excellent IT skills, particularly using Excel. The role requires excellent attention to detail and the ability to work to deadlines in a self-directed manner. Experience of working with archive and manuscript materials is desirable, although full training will be provided. This role is suitable for hybrid working.
