Full-Time

We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Information Studies within the School of Humanities.

The subject has a record of innovative research and teaching, and we are looking for outstanding candidates to help fulfil our strategic vision to 'empower the human in information worlds'. Information Studies provides a supportive, interdisciplinary, and collegial environment and has had an excellent performance in the recent REF exercise and periodic review of its teaching. Applications are welcome from across the spectrum of Information Studies or Digital Humanities.

Our research aligns with the University’s research strategy (https://www.gla.ac.uk/research/strategy/ourstrategy/) and prioritises collaboration, creativity and careers. The subject has strengths in digital cultural heritage, use and application of AI, data analysis and visualisation and virtual and augmented reality. Applications are welcome that increase our research depth in these areas. Areas where the subject can diversify its research include, but are not limited to, geospatial information (including 3D), environmental information, philosophy of information or technology and records management. Applicants whose research addresses issues of equality, diversity, and inclusion in any of these fields are encouraged.

The postholder will undertake research of international excellence, contribute to the delivery of an excellent student experience through learning and teaching across our degree programmes (primarily our undergraduate Digital Media and Information Studies degree) and to knowledge exchange activities relative to the discipline. Candidates with a commitment to engaging undergraduate students, widening participation and /or developing links with employers are particularly welcome.

You’ll undertake administration and service activities in line with the strategic objectives of the Subject/School and College.

The successful candidate will be fully supported in completing the University’s early career development programme (ECDP) https://www.gla.ac.uk/myglasgow/humanresources/all/pay/ecdp/

This post is full time (35 hrs per week) and open ended.
