The University of Surrey is a world-class research-led university committed to research excellence. Our research seeks to answer global challenges, drive innovation, and deliver real-world impact. At the Library, we are proud to provide expertise and resources to support researchers to achieve these goals and are looking for someone who, as part of the Open Research team within the library, has the enthusiasm to improve researchers’ experience with research data.
The post holder will manage a research data management service and help develop a digital preservation service for the University. As the professional lead in this area, they will ensure that the research data management and preservation service meets the needs of the academic community. They will lead on communication in this area and ensure that the information and support required by researchers is openly available to them. They will also provide individual support for researchers, providing advice on data management plans, the deposit of data outputs and long-term preservation of data. They will have responsibility for the research data element of the university’s publications and research data repository.
We are open to considerations of flexible working, and the team supports hybrid working, with the ability to work in the office and from home, in line with business needs. We are aware that some groups of people are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single criterion. We are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive and authentic workplace, so if you're excited about this role but your past experience doesn't align perfectly, we encourage you to get in touch or to just apply.
