This is a leadership and management role with the University of Queensland Library. The role involves managing the University Library’s Digitisation Service and Digital Preservation activities. This includes coordinating digitisation workflows and imaging services, reviewing, revising and implementing policies and practices related to digital preservation and establishing best practice specifications and workflows across the Library.
The position involves liaising with external vendors and agencies and working collaboratively with the Fryer Library, eSpace and the Library Technology Service to ensure that all digitisation and digital preservation activities meet established guidelines and priorities within the Library.
The position also involves taking a leadership role in developing and promoting the Library’s Digitisation and Digital Preservation Services, including developing project proposals, collaborating with other Library units and relevant external partners.
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Manage and co-ordinate the Library’s Digitisation and Digital Preservation Services ,oversee service performance and identify and implement service improvements and strategic opportunities. Oversee the development and maintenance of detailed technical requirements and specifications for the digitisation, storage, preservation, and access of all format types held by the University of Queensland Library.

Manage digital projects related to digitisation and digital preservation including overseeing and coordinating staffing to ensure timely competition and appropriate quality control protocols are followed.

Develop and maintain effective relationships with other sections of the University Library, in particular the Fryer Library, Library Technology Service,and UQ eSpace taking a leadership role in the development of a Library wide approach to digitisation and digital preservation.

Participate in The University of Queensland Library’s overall strategic planning and policy development.

Effectively communicate and liaise with both internal and external clients, other areas in the University, and manage relationships with vendors who provide digitisation services and/or equipment, negotiating when required to ensure Library digitisation projects are achieved.

Promote Library collections, and opportunities for digitisation of / use of digital materials for teaching, learning and research to a wide range of stakeholders 7. Oversee rights issues and cultural requirements for the Library’s digitised collection in collaboration with the UQ Copyright Officer and Reconciliation Action Plan Officer.

Participate in the formulation of the budget and monitor expenditure to ensure it remains within budget. Undertake procurement in line with University Policy and Procedures.

Participate on committees – both internal and external to the University Library and Represent the Library and the University as required

Contribute to UQ Library’s commitment to CARE and FAIR data principles and support Open Access initiatives in collaboration with staff across the Library, including providing guidance on rights issues and cultural requirements.
