The DCC is looking for a Strategy and Operations Specialist to join our team as maternity cover. You will work on and manage a range of projects in our portfolio, oversee the Directorate's events and conferences programme, and play a key role in shaping and informing the strategic direction of the department. 

The Opportunity:

The post offers an excellent opportunity to work with a renowned centre of expertise in Digital Curation, Research Data Management and Open Research. The post holder will work with the DCC Director at Edinburgh and Associate Director at Glasgow to inform and shape the strategic direction of the department as part of the DCC senior management team. 

The post-holder will work closely with DCC area leads to coordinate and manage the business aspects of the department’s portfolio of EC-funded projects, consultancy, training and online services. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop international networks through the DCC’s collaborations with top-tier research institutions worldwide, and through the post's leading role in the coordination of the Directorate's events and conferences. 

The post has direct line-management responsibilities for one member of staff. 

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Proven ability to manage and coordinate the activities of a team to ensure work is on time and to specification

  • Experience of developing and working to clear project plans and delivering outputs as required

  • Experience of international research projects and their management and relevant funder requirements

  • Experience of budget development and budget management

  • Experience of planning, coordinating and running a range of workshops and events

  • Proven analytical and problem-solving capabilities (situational, interpersonal and technical)

  • Direct managerial track record an advantage
