2024 KB signingThe Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) welcomes the KB, the National Library of the Netherlands, as its newest Associate Member today!

The KB maintains an ongoing commitment to preserve the nation's comprehensive collection of publications about and from the Netherlands. As one of the pioneers in digital preservation, the library has had an operational trusted digital repository since 2002 and has experienced several paradigm shifts over the years. To withstand these transitions and keep up with innovation, they have remained an active participant in the digital preservation community ever since.

"We are very pleased to join the DPC, the world's largest digital preservation network," says Jeffrey van der Hoeven, Head of the Digital Preservation department at KB National Library of the Netherlands. "As a member, we can actively participate in DPC's working groups, share our expertise, and learn from others. We have faced big challenges to keep our large and diverse digital collection accessible and understandable, so being active in preservation and partnering in a wide international network is of vital importance to us.”

William Kilbride, Executive Director of the DPC, welcomed the KB to the Coalition, saying: “Membership is just the latest step in a long-standing friendship between DPC and KB. Our connections will be further strengthened with a new agreement to create a presence for the DPC in The Hague.  Angela Puggioni, our Community Engagement Manager, is based in the Netherlands. She will move to the KB with a full-time secondment to the DPC. We are very grateful to the KB for their support which will ensure we are better placed to support our members in Continental Europe.”

The DPC is an international charitable foundation which supports digital preservation, helping its members around the world to deliver resilient long-term access to digital content and services through community engagement, targeted advocacy work, training and workforce development, capacity building, good practice and standards, and through good management and governance. Its vision is a secure digital legacy.
