The Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) is very pleased to announce that the Academic Preservation Trust (APTrust) has upgraded its membership to become a Full Member of the Coalition this month.
An Associate Member of the DPC since 2016, and based at the University of Virginia, the APTrust is a 20-member consortium of libraries committed to the creation and management of a sustainable environment for digital preservation.
“As the DPC establishes its presence in the Americas, upgrading our membership wasn’t a difficult decision,” says Nathan Tallman, Executive Director of APTrust. “DPC does amazing work in building a global community around digital preservation, promulgating good practice, and establishing a digital preservation training curriculum. As we start to build out our Associate Membership model, we can connect new practitioners with these excellent resources and provide more spaces to attend live events.”
Jane Winters, Chair of the DPC, welcomed the news saying: “We are delighted that the APTrust has chosen to become a Full Member and will now join the DPC Board. We look forward to strengthening our partnership with the Academic Preservation Trust and the academic community in the USA, as the Coalition extends its global presence to the Americas.”
An international charitable foundation which supports digital preservation, the DPC helps its members around the world to deliver resilient long-term access to digital content and services through community engagement, targeted advocacy work, training and workforce development, capacity building, good practice and standards, and through good management and governance.
