The Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) welcomes Newcastle University Library (NCL) as its latest Associate Member this week.NewcastleUni

In its role at the heart of a leading academic institution, Newcastle University Library recognizes the critical importance of digital preservation in safeguarding its valuable collections. With a growing emphasis on digital resources and an increasing volume of born-digital and digitized materials, the library is committed to enhancing its long-term accessibility and management solutions. The library's Special Collections department anticipates a significant increase in digital collection ingestion, highlighting the importance of robust digital preservation strategies.

“Newcastle University Library are delighted to join the DPC,” says Ian Johnson, Head of Special Collections & Archives for NCL. “We see this as a wonderful opportunity to share and benefit from best practice among fellow custodians of digital heritage and research outputs, and hope that our participation will contribute to further collaboration across the sector.”

The DPC is an international charitable foundation which supports digital preservation, helping its members around the world to deliver resilient long-term access to digital content and services through community engagement, targeted advocacy work, training and workforce development, capacity building, good practice and standards, and through good management and governance. Its vision is a secure digital legacy.
