The Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) is delighted to welcome the National Library of Norway (NLN) as its newest Associate Member this month.
The NLN is the official custodian of Norway’s documentary heritage; with legal responsibility for collecting, preserving, and providing access to all published material in Norway. The NLN is located in Oslo and Mo i Rana.
“We are looking forward to contributing to and being part of an active preservation community,” says Wilfred Østgulen, CIO at NLN. “The DPC offers valuable resources which will help us continue to address our digital preservation challenges, so we are keen to apply these whilst learning from the practice and experience of other DPC Members.”
Juan Bicarregui, Chair of the DPC was delighted to welcome the NLN to the Coalition, saying “NLN joins a group of national libraries and institutions within the Coalition, many of whom will share similar experiences and challenges, whilst bringing their own perspectives too. We look forward to learning from NLN’s expertise and experiences, as well as working with them to advocate for the importance of digital preservation locally, regionally and globally.”
The DPC is an international charitable foundation which supports digital preservation, helping its members around the world to deliver resilient long-term access to digital content and services through community engagement, targeted advocacy work, training and workforce development, capacity building, good practice and standards, and through good management and governance. Its vision is a secure digital legacy.
