The Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) welcomes the Pension Protection Fund (PPF) as they become the Coalition’s newest Associate Member.

Established in 2005, the Pension Protection Fund serves as a safety net for millions of UK citizens, ensuring defined benefit pension scheme members receive compensation on their lost benefits if their employer becomes insolvent and the scheme is underfunded. Managing vast quantities of vital records, the PPF recognizes the critical importance of maintaining long-term access to its digital archives.

“The Pension Protection Fund (PPF) are pleased to be joining the DPC,” says Ruth Kusionowicz, Information and Data Governance Manager at PPF. “The work and support of the DPC and its knowledgeable community will help further advance our efforts to ensure the long-term access and sustainability of our digital information. This partnership will help us learn from and share best practice, as we continue to deliver our mission protecting the 9 million people in the UK with a defined benefit pension and delivering for our members.”

Jane Winters, Chair of the DPC, was delighted to welcome the Pension Protection Fund to the growing Coalition. “Their membership reflects the growing awareness across sectors that digital preservation plays a vital role in ensuring long-term access to critical records. We look forward enormously to working together with the PPF team in Croydon."

The DPC is an international charitable foundation which supports digital preservation, helping its members around the world to deliver resilient long-term access to digital content and services through community engagement, targeted advocacy work, training and workforce development, capacity building, good practice and standards, and through good management and governance. Its vision is a secure digital legacy.
