The Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) is delighted to welcome Preferred Media to its Supporter Program this week.
Based in Sydney, New South Wales, Preferred Media has been a leading provider of physical media preservation services in Australia for over 40 years. In addition to digitizing film and videotape, the company offers LTO-based digital preservation for its brand and agency clients, as well as specialized services for GLAM and other industries, integrating long-term preservation into their digital offerings.
“Preservation has been in Preferred Media’s DNA for over 40 years. The company has managed and maintained physical media assets for some of Australia’s largest advertising agencies and most iconic brands,” explains Hamish Armytage, Client Solutions Manager for Preferred Media. “As the world has changed from physical and analogue to digital, we have carried the same passion for long term preservation into our digital offering. We are excited to become a DPC Supporter and look forward to enhancing our education and understanding the community’s requirements."
The DPC’s Supporter Program enables a structured, ongoing dialogue between members and solution providers; enabling vendors and solution providers to access and track the changing needs and challenges faced by DPC members.
Robin Wright, Head of Australasia & Asia-Pacific for the DPC, welcomed the news saying: “As our community of members in Australasia and Asia-Pacific grows, we are delighted that Preferred Media will also expand our DPC Supporter Program into this region. We look forward to learning much more about Preferred Media and the benefits they can offer DPC Members, as well as working in partnership with the organisation as it develops.”
The DPC Supporter Program offers a tiered fee structure designed to enable as many different types of organization to engage with the global DPC community through focused activities, as well as the DPC’s broader program of events. This offers a route to participation for sole traders and micro-agencies, those operating on a non-profit or charitable basis, companies who offer purely open-source solutions and new entrants into the digital preservation market, as well as larger agencies.
All funds raised by the DPC Supporter Program will be used in first instance to support grants to members for training and workforce development, to subsidize training workshops or to sponsor DPC membership for charities and not-for-profits.
The DPC enables its members to deliver resilient long-term access to digital content and services through advocacy, community engagement, workforce development, capacity-building, good practice and good governance.
