The Digital Preservation Coalition welcomes the American Institute of Physics as its newest member

The American Institute of Physics (AIP) has joined the Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) this month, becoming the Coalition’s newest Associate Member. AIP banner

Founded in 1932, AIP believes in the power of the physical sciences to change the world. AIP’s mission is to advance, promote, and serve the physical sciences for the benefit of humanity. AIP is an institute and a federation. As a federation, AIP works to advance the success of our 10 physical sciences Member Societies which in turn support the work of more than 120,000 individual members across the globe. In addition to Member Societies, AIP has 20 Affiliates representing more than 300,000 scientists.

Call for Applicants: DPC Grant for DCDC 2025 Conference in Durham

The Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) is pleased to offer a Career Development Fund grant for a DPC member to attend the Discovering Collections, Discovering Communities (DCDC) 2025 Conference, 29-31 July, taking place in person at at Durham University and online via the hybrid-conferencing platform Pheedloop.

This Career Development Fund grant will cover 100% of conference registration and provide an additional contribution towards travel and accommodation if attending in person. More details about the grant are provided below, and applications are welcomed from DPC members until the grant application deadline of 7:00 UTC on 22 April 2025.

The Council of Prairie and Pacific University Libraries (COPPUL) joins the Digital Preservation Coalition

COPPUL, a Canadian consortium of university libraries across Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia, has joined the Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) as an Associate Member.

Through its Digital Stewardship Network (CDSN), COPPUL demonstrates strong commitment to building digital preservation capacity across its member institutions. "Collaboration is a core value for COPPUL and an essential part of our strategic framework, and we are very pleased to be joining the DPC,” says Y.G. Rancourt, COPPUL Digital Stewardship Network Coordinator.

Now available: Digital Preservation Competency Framework version 2

CATLogoGlassesThe Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) is pleased to announce that Version 2 of its Digital Preservation Competency Framework, and updated companion resources, are now available on the DPC Website.

First published in 2022, the DPC Digital Preservation Competency Framework identifies and describes the skills, knowledge, and competencies required for successful digital preservation. It aims to reflect current good practice whilst also being designed with flexibility in mind - to offer a balance of detail so that it can be widely applicable for a range of applications as well as useable by digital preservation practitioners across different organizational contexts.
