About the iPRES 2024 Conference

iPRES is the premier international conference series on digital preservation. The conference brings together experts, practitioners, researchers, and policy makers in the field of digital preservation to share their knowledge, experiences, and innovations. It is a unique platform for the global digital preservation community to present research and innovative projects, share practical experience and best practices, discuss emerging trends and challenges and collaborate on future directions and solutions.

This year’s 20th Conference, iPRES 2024, comes to Ghent and Flanders, 16-20 September 2024, hosted by Ghent University, Digital Archives Flanders, VRT and meemoo, Flemish Institute for Archives. iPRES 2024 has three themes to guide the discussions, workshops and presentations throughout the conference:

  • From document to data
  • Scaling up
  • Start 2 preserve

To find out more, please visit the iPRES 2024 conference page at https://ipres2024.be.

About the DPC Career Development Fund Grant

This Career Development Fund grant will cover 100% of online or in-person conference registration fees.

The grant will also provide funding to help with expenses incurred if attending in person. This may be used towards any one or all of the following expenses:

  • Hotel booking for up to five nights (Sunday 15th September – Friday 20th September) based on hotel list provided by iPRES 2024 organizers

  • Contribution towards travel expenses (e.g., economy flight, train, public transport to/from Ghent)

The amount of funding is at the discretion of the review panel and will be explicitly stated in the grant offer letter to successful applicants.

Eligibility

All DPC Members are eligible to apply for this Career Development Fund grant. This grant is not available to non-members. Prospective members are eligible if their membership application is approved by the application deadline of 07:00 UTC on 14th June 2024. For information about joining the DPC, see https://www.dpconline.org/about/join-us

Please note that only one grant is available per DPC member. DPC members may submit a maximum of one application for one applicant for this advertised grant for iPRES 2024 (e.g., one application for a person representing a DPC member organization). We recommend that any member organization which supports an application discusses appropriate outcomes and benefits for the organization prior to submission. Moreover, because only one grant is available per member institution, we recommend that applicants ensure that they are not inadvertently competing with colleagues.

For more details about eligibility and criteria for the grants, please read the full Career Development Fund Guidelines. Applicants are also encouraged to contact the Training and Grants Manager, Amy Currie (amy.currie@dpconline.org), should any questions arise.

How to Apply

  • All sections of the application form should be completed and returned to Amy Currie (amy.currie@dpconline.org), accompanied by explicit approval for attendance from a supervisor (via email or attached letter), by 7:00 UTC on 14th June 2024 (click here to see the deadline in your local time).

  • Please note that only one grant is available per member per call. In other words, DPC members may submit a maximum of one application for one applicant for this advertised iPRES 2024 grant. There cannot be multiple applicants representing the same DPC membership, so please coordinate with colleagues to ensure one application is submitted.

Applicants are encouraged to contact the Training and Grants Manager, Amy Currie (amy.currie@dpconline.org), should any questions arise.
