The Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) is delighted to announce that DNA storage provider, Twist Bioscience, is the newest organization to join its Supporter Program.

Twist Bioscience provides synthetic DNA to those working in the fields of health care, agriculture, industrial chemicals, and academic research, and has recently announced a data storage offering, the Century Archive solution. The company’s Century Archive solution leverages the advantages of DNA as a storage medium. Its density enables solutions scaling from data lakes to data oceans; its longevity allows century and millennium scale archive storage; its immutability provides a stable form where the data is the medium; and its low energy footprint means that it is one of the most sustainable amongst all media.

The Digital Preservation Coalition celebrates 20 years since its foundation this week!

Officially launched in February 2002, the DPC was charged with fostering joint action to address the urgent challenges of securing the preservation of digital resources in the UK and to work with others internationally to secure our global digital memory and knowledge base.

The DPC renews its leadership each year allowing members to guide and review our programmes.  We are pleased to announce a number of changes at the start of this exciting 20^th Anniversary year:

The University of Melbourne and the Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding today which will see the continuation of the DPC’s Melbourne Office and the provision of operational support for the digital preservation community across Australasia and Asia Pacific for the foreseeable future.
